Super Mario Run quietly launched in the App Store, so you can easily download it right now for free on your iPhone and iPad. The much-anticipated game is Nintendo’s first real attempt to puts its storied back catalogue of video game characters to use in the mobile world. The Super Mario Run is a take on the endless runner type of game, letting players control Mario in a traditional side-scrolling platformer environment, but with one control: tap to jump. The longer you tap, the higher he jumps. This is key to getting high scores, collect special coins that are hidden around levels. The idea here’s that you should be able to play Super Mario with one hand.
The game features 3 main modes. ‘World Tour’ lets you play solo through 24 levels in six worlds; ‘Toad Rally’ lets you challenge your friends’ times to race through certain levels; and ‘Mushroom Kingdom’ lets you create and customize your own courses. You just need to earn currency in the first two of these modes to use the third, as well as unlock 5 other characters.
The game is free to download and play, at least for a little while. You will then have to make a one-off in-app payment to access the full game

Keep in mind that Nintendo’s runner is an online-only game, meaning that you can not boot into it if you do not have either a Wi-Fi or cellular connection. This will definitely be a problem for some, but not others. So, it is good to at least consider it before putting your money down on the app.
Super Mario Run is available for iOS only at present but Nintendo and Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto have both confirmed that an Android version is planned. It’s thought that the iPhone, iPod and iPad touch game is a timed exclusive, so we are not sure when the Android edition will appear. It will not be until later in 2017 we suspect.
