Misfit Expanded Its Range With The Phase Hybrid Smartwatch

Misfit recently debuted the Phase hybrid smartwatch, its first true timepiece which combines an activity tracker along with some subtle smartwatch features. Misfit claims that the new Misfit Phase can control music, take pictures with your phone, or even advance slides in a presentation, at the touch of a button. As with similar Misfit products, the Misfit Phase automatically updates a time, features a 6 month battery life, and up to 50 meters of the water resistance.

Phase Hybrid Smartwatch Display:

On the face of it, it looks like a regular analogue watch but there’s a whole load of technology hiding underneath. The smartwatch face in conjunction with the hands of the watch, haptic feedback, and also a small color window acts in conjunction as a user interface for notifications and feedback. You can be alerted to activity notifications, alarms, notification data, call, text, app notifications, and movement reminders by the watch.

Phase Hybrid

Phase Hybrid Smartwatch Design:

The Phase is, at its most basic, an analog smartwatch with some additional functions. It starts with a 41mm case that is comprised of a polished stainless steel core module, along with a matte aluminum shroud over the top which includes the integrated lugs. There are no springbars and the straps have fasteners to close them around the lugs (they’re still two-piece straps). They are a standard 20mm width, so you can use NATO, one-piece, or snap-around straps if you so choose. It case feels a little thick, but because of the construction it curves nicely to the wrist, and felt comfortable.

Phase Hybrid Smartwatch Features:

The Phase has all of the same fitness tracking features as the Shine and Ray, including swim tracking. But it does not have a heart rate sensor or some of the other advanced fitness tracking functions that other devices offer. The new Phase also vibrate with alerts from your phone, which you can customize to include select notifications. (The hands rotate to a set position and small window at the six o’clock position will change the color when a notification comes in.) Also one of the buttons on the Phase can be customized for a variety of functions, including controlling the music playback on your phone.
